Delighted to attend this year’s AAEA Annual Meeting in Kansas City, MO, from July 25–28, 2026!
I was honored to moderate the wildfires session and present my work on fuel reduction treatments and wildfire prevention. My sincere thanks to Professor Ted Jaenicke for serving as senior discussant and to my fellow speakers, Wei Guo, Jiaren Bao, and Xibo Wan, for their engaging presentations and thoughtful discussion.
One of the highlights was celebrating my professor and department head, Dr. Terry Hurley, becoming an AAEA Fellow. During his Fellows address, Terry said his motivation is simple: helping people. I can definitely speak to that: Terry has helped me and my family so much throughout my PhD and postdoc. I’ve also enjoyed exchanging photos of his grandsons and my son with him over the years. Congratulations again on this well-deserved achievement!
It was also fun to have my son join me for his second AAEA Annual Meeting. Three years ago, he attended his first meeting at just two months old, when we celebrated my advisor, Dr. Marc F. Bellemare, becoming an AAEA Fellow.
